Heavy rain likely to occur at places across Bangladesh

Bangladesh desk: The very heavy rain is likely to occur in four divisions — Chattogram, Sylhet, Rangpur and Mymensingh, and heavy rain is likely to occur at most places across Bangladesh.
Confirming the matter, Bangladesh Metrological Department meteorologist Bazlur Rashid said, ‘Very heavy rainfall is likely to occur in four divisions — Chattogram, Sylhet, Rangpur and Mymensingh. Heavy rain is forecasted in most places in all divisions across the country.’
He said that 157 millimetre rainfall was recorded in Sylhet in the past six hours from 6:00am to 12:00 noon on Saturday.
‘We termed very heavy rain above 88mm. But, the Sylhet rainfall is around double considering the parameter of very heavy fall in the past six hours,’ Bazlur said, adding that the rainfall would deteriorate the flood situation in Sylhet.
He also said that the very heavy rainfall might continue for two more days in Sylhet.
BMD latest data shows that monsoon is active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay.
Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind and lightning flashes is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the country, according BMD latest data.
Day and night temperature might remain nearly unchanged over the country, the BMD data added.
It also said that 239mm rainfall was recorded at Swandip in Chattogram in the past 24 hours till 9:00am on Saturday.
