Fake physician jailed, fined Tk 1 lakh in Rangpur

A mobile court initiated by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 fined a fake physician Taka one lakh for providing treatments and running his private hospital without registered doctors here on Thursday evening.
“Led by Executive Magistrate Afrin Jahan of Rangpur, the mobile court also sentenced the fake doctor to three month jail term without labour and three month more jail term, or in default, to suffer more three month imprisonment,” a press release said today.
On a tip off, the Crime Prevention Specialised Company (CPSC) of RAB-13 led by the executive magistrate conducted a sudden raid at ‘Seba Hospital’ in Dhap area of the city for running the hospital without registered physicians and renewal of license.
Representatives of the Civil Surgeon’s office, CPSC of RAB-13 and other authorities concerned extended assistance to the mobile court in conducting the drive at the hospital.
After verifying documents and examining some patients there, the mobile court found that the hospital was being run without registered doctors and patients were being cheated there by providing treatments by the fake doctor and owner of the hospital.
Later, the mobile court Owner of the hospital and fake physician Md. Rafikul Islam jailed him for three month and fined him Taka one lakh, or in default, to suffer more three month imprisonment.
