Dhaka summons Indian high commissioner

Bangladesh desk: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma.

“He has been asked to come,” Foreign Adviser Touhid Hossain said just minutes before Pranay Verma entered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at about 3:56pm.The meeting comes amid tension in bilateral relations between the neighbouring countries.

Verma is holding a meeting with Acting Foreign Secretary Riaz Hamidullah at the ministry.

The Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala came under attack yesterday, while Indian protesters demonstrated in various parts of India including in Tripura, West Bengal and Maharashtra protesting alleged attacks on minorities.
