Dhaka court accepts charge sheet against Shahed in arms case

Bangladesh Desk: A Dhaka court on Wednesday accepted the charge sheet against Regent Hospital owner Mohammad Shahed, alias Shahed Karim, in a case filed under Arms Act with the Uttara police.

Dhaka Metropolitan Session Judge Courts judge KM Imrul Kayesh took the charge sheet into cognizance in presence of the accused.

The court also set August 27 for the hearing of charge framing against Shahed in the case.

Investigation officer and DB inspector Syrul Islam filed the charge-sheet at the court of Dhaka Metropolitan magistrate Morshed Al Mamun Bhuiyan on July 30.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court on August 13 transferred the case to Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court for further proceedings.

Shahed was arrested by the Rapid Action Battalion at Debhata upazilla in Shatkhira on July 15 and was airlifted to the capital in the morning.

DB conducted raid on one of his Uttara dens on July 19 and recovered illegal arms and narcotics, said DB additional commissioner Abdul Baten.

Later, the detectives filed two cases with the Uttara West police station under Narcotics Control Act and Arms Act.
