Forcibly displaced Rohingya people of Rakhine in Myanmar have started receiving Covid vaccine on Tuesday in camps in Cox’s Bazar of Bangladesh.

About 50,000 female and male Rohingyas above 55 years of age will be administered Sinopharm vaccine under the first phase of mass inoculation campaign across Bangladesh, according to the disaster and relief ministry officials.

The vaccination campaign in the camps is set to end on Thursday.

Over one million displaced Rohingya people, who were victims of ethnic cleansing and atrocity committed by Myanmar military and their cohorts over the years, now live in 34 camps in Cox’s Bazar.
