BSF kills another Bangladeshi

Bangladesh Desk:

Indian Border Security Force shot dead another Bangladeshi citizen on Thakurpukur border at Damurhuda upazila in Chuadanga early Sunday morning.

The victim, Omedul Islam, 26, son of Shahidul Islam, was a resident of Thakurpukur village. He was a cattle trader.

The Border Guard Bangladesh sent a protest letter to their Indian counterpart.

The victim’s family said that Omedul along with four others went to the bordering area in the early hours of Sunday.

At about 4:00am, a BSF  patrol team chased them and all but Omedul could return home. Omedul sustained bullet injuries and his body fell near the pillar No 89 inside the Indian territory.

 

Border Guard Battalion-6 commanding officer Muhammad Khalequzzaman said that they had protested against the shooting and sent a letter seeking the youth’s body.

At least 35 Bangladesh people were killed by BSF in the first eight months of this year, according to Ain o Salish Kendra, an NGO.

At least 1,185 Bangladeshis were killed along the border by BSF between 2000 and 2019, according to the data shared by Odhikar.
