BCL leader held over rape of teenager on hospital rooftop
Bangladesh desk: A Chhatra League leader has been arrested by police on charge of raping a teenage girl on the rooftop of Munshiganj Sadar Hospital.
Shakil was trying to flee Munshiganj through Bhaberchar under Gazaria upazila, police said.
He lives at Khaleast area adjacent to Dudhbazar in Munshiganj Municipality along with his family
Shakil had been absconding soon after the case was filed. Later, he fled from one place to another. to avert arrest.
Local police traced Shakil’s location through information technology. After tracing him, a team of policemen led by investigation officer SI Enamul Huque conducted a drive in Bhaberchar Hoglakandi area late at night and nabbed Shakil from there.
Police will produce him before court on Sunday seeking his remand for questioning.
The victim teenage girl alleged that she became the victim of rape on the rooftop of a hospital under Munshiganj sadar upazila on Tuesday night. Later, the girl’s mother Aklima Begum, 50, filed a rape case at Munshiganj Sadar Police Station against BCL leader Shakil on Thursday night.
“Shakil dragged my daughter to the rooftop of Munshiganj General Hospital and raped her there. He also threatened her not to disclose the matter,” the girl’s mother mentioned in her case.
The victim girl very often stays with her mother, a third grade employee of the hospital.
