Bangladesh: Teesta, Dharla rivers flow above danger level

Bangladesh desk: The water level of Dharla River in Kurigram district is rising and flowing above the danger level. Besides, the water level of Teesta and Brahmaputra rivers are also rising. Hundreds of families have been inundated due to the floods.
According to Water Development Board, the water of Dharla River was flowing 3 cm above the danger level at Bridge Point on Friday morning.

The water of Teesta River was flowing 33 cm below the danger level at Kaunia point while 5 cm at Chilmari point and the water of Brahmaputra River was flowing 5 cm below the danger level at Chilmari point while 30 cm at Nunkhawa point.
Meanwhile, hundreds of families in Chilmari Upazila, including Kurigram Sadar, Nageshwari and Bhurungamari have been flooded due to rising water levels in rivers. Farmers are worried as paddy, jute and vegetable fields are submerged in water.
Kurigram Water Development Board executive engineer Abdullah Al Mamun said the water of Teesta and Brahmaputra rivers are rising in Kurigram due to heavy rains and onrush water from the upstream.
