Bangladesh reports 8,465 new cases, 197 deaths from Covid

Bangladesh desk: Bangladesh on Friday reported 8,465 COVID-19 cases while the coronavirus claimed overnight 197 lives.
“The country reported 20.83 percent COVID-19 positive cases as 40,641 samples were tested in the past 24 hours. The daily infection continued to exceed 10,000 mark almost daily since July 6,” Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in its routine daily statement.
The official tally showed the virus killed 23,810 people and infected 14,05,333 so far, it added.
In case of the divisions, Dhaka logged the highest death toll of 78 and Chattogram logged 53 deaths.
Reports received from Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Kushtia, Barishal, Chattogram, Satkhira and Khulna said that a total of 57 patients died at the Covid units of hospitals in the districts in 24 hours till Friday morning.
Among them, 29 were Covid patients, 27 had symptoms and the remaining one had post-Covid complications.
