Bangladesh reports 231 more Covid deaths, 14,844 cases

Bangladesh desk: Bangladesh logged an additional Covid deaths of 231 people and 14,844 cases in 24 hours until Sunday morning.

With the latest statistics, the total death toll hits 20,916 and infections to 12,64,328 since it had recorded the first Covid cases on March 8, 2020, and death from the viral disease on March 18, 2020.

 

The daily test positivity rate is 29.97 per cent.

Among the deceased, 139 are male and 92 female are patients.

The Directorate General of Health Services came up with the latest statistics on its daily Covid press release.

A total of 49,529 samples have been tested during the reporting period across the country at 691 laboratories while Bangladesh had tested 77,90, 423 samples as of August 1.

In the past 24 hours, 15,054 patients recovered from the viral disease totaling the recovery to 10,93,266.

In case of the divisions, Dhaka logged the highest death toll of 77 and Chattogram logged 53 deaths.

Reports received from Khulna, Rajshahi, Kushtia, Barishal, Chattogram, Satkhira and Mymensingh said that at least 93 patients died at the Covid units of hospitals in the districts in 24 hours ending Sunday morning.

Of them, 51 were Covid patients and 42 had symptoms.
