Bangladesh NCTB changes, prepares performance indicators

Bangladesh desk: The National Curriculum and Textbook Board changed some performance indicators for Class VI and VII and prepared performance indicators for Class VIII and IX for the assessment during learning.
For the proper implementation of the new national curriculum, the initiative was taken, said the board officials.
The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education under the education ministry issued a notice on Wednesday it this regard.
The notice read that for the appropriate implementation of the new curriculum and to operate the assessment during learning some performance indicators for Class VI and VII had been reformed and prepared again.
Besides, the NCTB prepared performance indicators for Class VIII and IX and prepared subject-based tools and directives for assessment during learning from Class VI to IX.
The educational institutions were asked to follow the tools and the directives in the notice.
NCTB member (curriculum) professor Md Moshiuzzaman said that the changes in some performance indicators came following changes in the textbooks under the new curriculum.
‘For example, we teach students with some specific tasks. If we change the tasks by keeping the main message in them unchanged then the teachers teach students in different ways as the tasks change here,’ he explained.
He said that changes in the textbooks could come in future as usual and following that the performance indicators would also be changed for the students’ assessment during learning.
In 2023, the government introduced the new national school curriculum to Classes I, VI and VII across the country.
This year the students of Classes of II, III, VIII and IX also came under the new curriculum.
The students of Classes of IV, V and X remained under the curriculum of 2012, the classes of which will come under the latest curriculum in 2025.
