Bangladesh: Lockdown imposed on 7 dists surrounding capital city

The government has imposed lockdown in seven districts —NarayanganjMunshiganjGazipurMadaripurRajbariManikganj and Gopalganj– surrounding to the capital city, from June 22 to 30 due to the sudden rise in coronavirus infections.
Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam made the announcement following the cabinet meeting held at Secretariat in Dhaka on Monday.
Stricter lockdown will come into effect from 6 am on June 22 till June 30 midnight in these districts.
All kinds of public transports will remain suspended during the lockdown.
However, emergency services like transportation of agricultural equipment and inputs (seeds, fertilizer, insecticides, agri machinery), crops, food items, relief activities, health services, Covid-19 vaccination, water, power, gas, fire service, port activities, telephone, internet services, mass media (electronic and print), private security services, postal services and offices related to emergency services, their employees, vehicles will remain out of the purview of the restrictions.
Local administration can imposed lockdown if they wants, said the cabinet secretary.
Covid-19 situation in Bangladesh has taken a turn for the worse again as the country saw 82 deaths on Sunday.
