Bangladesh Govt extends lockdown for 10 more days

Bangladesh desk: The government has issued a notification to extend the ongoing lockdown for another 10 days—until June 16—to check the spread of coronavirus in the country.

On Sunday, the Cabinet Division issued a new notification extending the period by ten days. It was also informed that all the previous restrictions will remain in force.

According the notification, public gatherings for social, political and religious programmes will also be banned from June 6 midnight to June 16 midnight.
All tourist destinations, resorts, community centres and entertainment centres will remain closed during the time, said the circular.

The restaurants would, however, be allowed to sale foods for takeaway or online 6:00am to 10:00pm.

Amid the growing concern over the spread of Delta variant, 38 more people died of Covid-19 in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours until Sunday morning, putting the death toll at 12,839.

Bangladesh reported its first Covid cases on March 8 last year and the first death on the 18th of that month.
