Bangladesh: Cartoonist Kishore’s bail plea rejected

Bangladesh desk: Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jasim on Sunday rejected the bail petition of cartoonist Ahmed Kabir Kishore in a case filed under the Digital Security Act.
Kishore has not been produced in court, though it was scheduled to produce him for remand hearing. For this, Ahmed Kabir Kishore’s lawyer expressed anger over it and sought punishment for the concerned involved in it.
Later, Magistrate Jasim also rejected the remand prayer.
Cartoonist Kishore has been in jail since May 6, 2020 in the case filed for “spreading rumours and carrying out anti-government activities” on the same day.
The cartoonist was detained from city’s Kakrail area by a team of RAB. He was, later, handed over to the Ramna Police.
Kishore and 10 others were made accused in the case.
