6 arrested over Mohammadpur robbery posing as security forces
Bangladesh desk: Police have arrested six people in connection with the robbery of Tk 75 lakh and 70 bhoris of gold ornaments from a flat of a building at Mohammadpur in the capital in disguise as members of Army and RAB.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s deputy commissioner (Media) Talebur Rahman confirmed the arrests on Sunday (October 13).
He added, the six people were arrested following a case filed by the victim Abu Bakr on Saturday.
The building belongs to a businessman, Abu Bakr, who is widely known as ‘Abu Company.’
According to the victims, a group of eight to 10 individuals, wearing uniforms resembling those of the Army and RAB and equipped with arms, entered their house saying that, they were here to conduct a raid to recover weapons.
They searched several cupboards and vandalised the furniture, later, looted the money and gold ornaments.
The robbers stayed inside the flat for about an hour and left around 4:30AM. They left with the money and valuables without any resistance, Abu Bakr added.
He said they came riding in two microbuses and two private cars.
