275 more hospitalised with dengue infection in Bangladesh

Bangladesh desk: Two hundred and seventy-five people were hospitalised with dengue infections in the past 24 hours till 8:00am on Monday.

With these, the number of people hospitalised with the Aedes mosquito-borne viral disease reached 15, 976 while it claimed the lives of 59 people since January this year, according to the Health Emergency Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services press release.

In the past 24 hours till Monday, 211 were hospitalised in Dhaka and 64 in other places across the country, said the DGHS press release.

Of the 59 people who have died of dengue since January, 54 were from Dhaka city, two each from Chattogram division and Khulna division and one from Rajshahi division.

Twelve of them died in July, 34 in August and 13 in September, according to the DGHS release.

Among the total hospitalised patients since January, 13,854 or 86.71 per cent of them were from Dhaka.

In 20 days of September, 5,620 patients were hospitalised in the country while the August figure was 7,698.

Besides, 2,286 hospitalised cases were recorded in July and in the six months from January to June, the total figure was 372.

On Monday, 1,072 dengue patients, including 857 in 41 government and private hospitals in Dhaka, were undergoing treatment in health facilities across the country.

According to the DGHS release, 14,845 patients have recovered from dengue since January.
