100 hurt during police, students clashes at JU

Bangladesh desk:  At least 100 protesters, including campus correspondent, were injured as students of Jahangirnagar University (JU) and police clashed on the campus Wednesday afternoon over the ongoing demonstrator demanding quota reformation in government jobs.
Police reportedly fired shotgun pellets and teargas shells at the quota protesters to disperse them while they trying to gather at different places on the campus at 5.45pm. The injured were taken to the JU Medical Center.
Rezwanur Rahman, an on-duty doctor at JU Medical Center, said that at least 30 injured who received pellet injuries took treatment there and most of the injuries were from shotgun pellets,
Two journalists, including JU correspondent of Prothom Alo Abdullah Al Mamun, were among the injured.
Witnesses said both sides took position in the Shaheed Minar area before the clash erupted. The clash is continue till filing the report 7pm. The number of injured persons may increase.

Meanwhile, protestors alleged that police were firing tear gas in front of almost every hall  and police started firing without any provocation.
