PBI to probe cases over Noakhali woman assault

Two cases, filed over the assault on Noakhali woman after undressing her, have been transferred to the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) for further investigation.

PBI Noakhali district unit’s special police superintendent Mizanur Rahman Munshi informed media that the cases were  handed over to them on Thursday night following directives from the Police Headquarters.

He also said PBI officers have already started investigation.

A team of PBI visited the spot on Friday morning, he added.

Meanwile, Begumganj upazila BNP and some other organisations formed human chain at Banglabazar on the Noakhali-Laxmipur road on Friday mornign demanding exemp[lary p[unishment of the parpetrators.

Miscreants assaulted a woman after stripping her off in her house at Ekhlaspur under Begumganj upazila in Noakhali district on September 2.

They also filmed the act in a mobile phone and circulated on the social media that sparked national outcry.

On October 4, the victim filed two cases 33 days after the incident accusing nine people.

One case was filed under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act and the other under the Pornography Control Act.
