Bangladesh Technical Education Board chairman’s wife remanded

Bangladesh desk: Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB) chairman Md Ali Akbar Khan’s wife Shehela Perveen has been placed on a two-day remand in a case filed over her alleged involvement in selling fake certificates.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate of Dhaka Tofazzal Hossain placed her on the remand on Sunday.

Earlier, Detective Branch of police arrested Shehela Perveen under a Digital Security Act case. The investigation officer and DB inspector Amirul Islam pleaded to place the accused on a five-day remand. On the other hand, Shehela Perveen’s lawyer pleaded for her bail cancelling the remand. After the hearing, the court placed her on a two-day remand.

Mirpur Police’s general registration officer at the court Jalal Uddin confirmed the matter. Earlier, Shehela was arrested on Saturday.

She was arrested on Saturday and, later, shown arrested in a case filed under the Cyber Security Act, according to DB police source.

DMP additional commissioner Mohammad Harun-or-Rashid said on Saturday night, “BTEB System Analyst ATM Shamsuzzaman, the main accused in a case filed for selling fake certificates, and the co-accused Sanjida Akter alias Koli gave confessional statements. Based on their information, Shehela Parveen was brought to the DB office on Saturday for questioning.”
Earlier, ATM Shamsuzzaman and his associate Faisal Hossain, Sanjida Akhter, Jatrabari Dhaka Polytechnic School and College director  Maksudur Rahman and Hilful Fujul Technical Institute Principal Sarder Golam Mostofa were arrested for their alleged involvement in selling fake certificates.

DB sources said that they found some evidence of money transactions between ATM Shamsuzzaman and Shehela Perveen.
