Bangladesh trash USA to reach Super Six

Sports desk:  Bangladesh completely rattled the United States of America (USA) with a thumping win of 121 runs to qualify for the Super Six stage of ICC Under-19 World Cup.

The young Tigers bowled the USA out for 170 runs in their last group stage match in Bloemfontein on Friday.

Earlier, Ariful Islam smashed a 103-ball 103 to help Bangladesh to post a huge 291 runs before the USA.

Being asked to bat, Bangladesh got an ordinary start losing three wickets in 94 runs. But Ariful then came in and made a 122-run stand along with Ahrar Amin, 44 to take themselves to a comfortable position.

Chowdhur Md Rizwan, Mohammad Shihab James and Ashiqur Rahman Shibli added 35, 31 and 27 runs on the board.

Arya Garg picked up the highest three wickets for the USA while Aarin Nadkarni got two.

In reply to 291, the USA got a good start as they at one stage collected 86 losing just one wicket. However, it did not sustain so long, losing wickets at regular intervals.

The falling of wickets did not stop, and at last the USA were packed at 170.

Skipper Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby was the pick of the bowlers as he bagged four wickets conceding just 31 runs in 10 overs.
