Nasir banned for two years

Sports desk:  Bangladesh all-rounder Nasir Hossain has been for two years by the International Cricket Council after he accepted three charges of breaching the Emirates Cricket Board’s Anti-Corruption Code.

The charges against Nasir were in relation to the 2021 Abu Dhabi T10 League.

Six months of his two-year ban is suspended, meaning the all-rounder will be free to return to cricket on April 7, 2025.

Nasir was charged with the breach of three articles of ECB Anti-Corruption Code, which were – Article 2.4.3, in that he failed to disclose the receipt of a gift that was offered to him that had a value of over USD 750, namely the gift of a new iPhone 12; Article 2.4.4, in that he failed to disclose full details of the approach or invitation he received to engage in Corrupt Conduct via the new iPhone 12; and  Article 2.4.6, in that he failed or refused, without compelling justification, to cooperate with the Designated Anti-Corruption Official’s investigation in relation to possible Corrupt Conduct under the Code.

The cricketer accepted all three of these charges and agreed to the sanction in the Anti-Corruption Tribunal hearing. The 32-year-old debuted for Bangladesh in 2011 against Zimbabwe, and played his last international match on January 25, 2018.
