College student dies from snakebite in Meherpur

Bangladesh desk: A college student died after being bitten by a snake at Gangni upazila of Meherpur district early Saturday.
The incident took place at around 12.30am in Karamdi village under the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Abu Zihad Akash, 20, son of Rahidul Islam, a resident of the village. He was an 11th grader of Karamdi Degree College.
According to the deceased family members, a poisonous snake bit Zihad when he was lying down on his bed, leaving him critically ill.
After giving him primary treatment at home, he was taken to Kushtia Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Gangni Police Station officer-in-charge Abdur Razzak said being informed, police recovered the body and after finishing legal procedures, it was handed over to the deceased family.
