Gono Forum wants dialogue to resolve political crisis

Bangladesh desk: Gono Forum on Saturday demanded dialogue between the government and the opposition political parties to resolve ongoing political crisis and holding a free, fair and credible general election in Bangladesh.

The party president and eminent jurist Dr Kamal Hossain made the demand while speaking at the party central committee meeting at its central office in Dhaka.

He said that the people of the country were eagerly waiting to apply their voting rights in free, fair and credible general election to elect a government.

The government should sit in dialogue with the opposition political parties for holding such a credible election, Kamal said.

Kamal Hossain said that the opposition political parties had started holding movements against the government braving repressions.

He said that the politics in the country was advancing towards confrontations.

And the foreign countries had got opportunity to raise questions on the issue of democracy and good governance, Kamal said.

The party general secretary Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, presidium members Mokabbir Khan, Mofizul Islam Khan Kamal and Altaf Hossain, among others, also spoke.
