Bangladesh Cricketer Mosharraf Hossain Rubel dies

Mosharraf Hossain Rubel

Former Bangladesh national team cricketer Mosharraf Hossain Rubel, who had been battling cancer, breathed his last on Tuesday.

He was 40.

The cricketer passed away at United Hospital this afternoon. Left-arm spinner Rubel was diagnosed with a brain tumor in March 2019.

However, Rubel recovered through treatment before his tumor resurfaced last year in January.

Rubel represented Bangladesh in five ODIs in between 2008 to 2016 and clainmed four wickets alongside scoring 26 runs.

‘Rubel is no more among us. He passed away this afternoon at United Hospital. We are on the way to him,’ Rubel’s friend Sheikh Farid told media.

Recently Rubel was admitted in the city’s Square Hospitals after his situation deteriorated. Subsequently he was released a couple of days back after his condition improved.

However, on Tuesday his physical condition worsened and was taken to United Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.
