Court accepts charge against Pori Moni in narcotics case

Bangladesh desk: The Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court on Monday accepted the charge sheet against three people including film actress Pori Moni in a narcotics case.

The other accused in the case are Ashraful Islam and Kabir Hossain.

 

Judge KM Imrul Kayesh of the court also sent the case to Dhaka Special Judge Court-10 and set December 14 for hearing on the charge brought against the three people.

On October 4, the Criminal Investigation Department of police submitted the charge sheet against the actress two months after she had been arrested by the Rapid Action Battalion with drugs during a raid on her Banani house.

CID inspector Kazi Mostafa Kamal, the investigation officer of the case, filed the charge sheet before the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court.

The CID officer claimed that Kabir was the supplier of the drug to the actress and Ashraful was arrested along with Pori Moni during the raid.

Pori Moni was arrested a few weeks after she had filed a case against businessman Nasir U Mahmood and some others accusing them of trying to rape and kill her at Boat Club in Dhaka.

RAB raided her Banani residence on August 4 and seized foreign liquors and drugs like LSD and meth.

RAB filed the case against Pori Moni under the Narcotics Control Act with the Banani police station.

She was placed on remand in police custody for seven days in three phases.

On August 31, Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court judge KM Imrul Kayes granted bail to Pori Moni on Tk 20,000 bail bond till the submission of the police report in the narcotics case.
