2 Nepalese arrested in Sylhet

Bangladesh desk: A citizen of Nepal and his 10-year-old son were arrested in Sylhet on Friday night on charge of entering Bangladesh without any legal document.

The arrested were Jaya Bahadur, 48, resident of Amchak Bhujpur of Napal, and his son Shan Bahadur, 10, said Biman Bandar police officer-in-charge KM Mainul Zakir.

 

He said that local people informed police at around 8:00pm on Friday about the Nepalese roaming suspiciously in Ambarkhana area in the city.

Later, a team of police detained them from there as they failed to show any document required for visiting Bangladesh, the police officer said.

Jaya Bahadur said that they entered Bangladesh from Himachal state of India through Borochhara border at Tahirpur upazila in Sunamganj on Wednesday to go Guwahati of the Assam state of the India crossing Tamabil border in Sylhet, police said.

‘They were admitted to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital as they were sick. Jaya had sustained wounds in his legs while entering in Bangladesh territory illegally through the border fence,’ the police officer said.

He informed that a case was also filed against the Nepalese on charge of intruding into Bangladesh.

They were discharged from the hospital on Saturday afternoon. Later, they were produced to the court of chief magistrate court, Sylhet, and the court ordered sending them to jail, the police officer said.
