Bangladesh reports 264 deaths,12,744 cases from COVID-19

Bangladesh desk:Bangladesh on Thursday reported 12,744 COVID-19 cases while the coronavirus claimed overnight 264 lives.

“The country reported 27.12 percent COVID-19 positive cases as 46,995 samples were tested in the past 24 hours. The daily infection continued to exceed 10,000 mark for several days since July 6,” Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in its routine daily statement.

The Directorate General of Health Services came up with the latest statistics on its daily Covid press release.

A total of 46,995 samples have been tested during the reporting period across the country at 705 laboratories while Bangladesh had tested 79,95,678 samples as of August 5.

In the past 24 hours, 15,786 patients recovered from the viral disease totaling the recovery to 11,56,943.

In case of the divisions, Dhaka logged the highest death toll of 87 and Chattogram logged 56 deaths.

Reports received from Khulna, Rajshahi, Barishal, Chattogram, Satkhira, Mymensingh and Tangail said that a total of 81 patients died at the Covid units of hospitals in the districts in in 24 hours till Thursday morning.

Of the deceased, 28 were Covid patients and 53 had symptoms.

The official tally showed the virus killed 21,902 people and infected 13,22,654 so far, it added.
