Bangladesh: Banks to remain closed on Aug 1, 4

 

All banks across the country will remain closed on August 1 and 4 In the wake of the fresh surge in the Covid-19 infections.

But, transaction period in the banks has been extended on August 2, 3, and 5.

A fresh circular issued by Department of Off site Supervision of Bangladesh Bank on Wednesday, said all banks across the country will remain closed on next Sunday and Wednesday considering the surge in the Covid-19 infections.

Besides, transaction will be held from 10am till 2:30pm on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, it said.

The banks can be kept open till 4:00pm for post-transaction activities, the circular said.

 

The other instructions issued by the central bank on July 13 circular will remain unchanged, it added.
After a four-day break due to  Eid-ul-Azha and weekly holidays, banks and financial institutions in Bangladesh opened on Sunday amid the countrywide 14-day strict lockdown that was enforced on July 23 to contain the spread of rising Covid.
