BNP nominates Rumeen Farhana as its whip in parliament

Bangladesh desk: BNP has nominated Barrister Rumeen Farhana, a member of parliament in the reserved seats of women, as its whip in Jatiya Sangsad.
Barrister Rumeen Farhana confirmed it through a post in her verified Facebook page.
In her Facebook post, Rumeen Farhana said, “the party (BNP) has given me nomination as the Whip of Jatiya Sangsad. I will try my best to uphold the dignity of the trust the party’s highest leadership has kept on me. Inshallah.”
Before start of the Jatiya Sangsad session on Saturday, BNP applied to Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury to nominate Barrister Rumeen Farhana MP as its whip in the parliament.
BNP MPs– Harunur Rashid, Aminul Islam and Rumeen Farhana — submitted the application to the Speaker, sources at the Parliament Secretariat said.
Rumeen is an elected MP from reserved seats for women in parlaiment. Her seat number is 50.
She is an outspoken lawmaker, often taking on public interest issues in parliament sharply criticising the government.
